    Watt, no Charlie ?

Sad to hear of Mitch Mitchell's recent death. Buddy Miles, Hendrix's other drummer, died this year as well.

Is choosing a favourite drummer not a bit like choosing your favourite underpants, or favourite broom handle. They serve a purpose, but if you had a different one, nobody would really notice.

As the old interview question of band front men and lead guitarists goes,

Q: "What would you be if you weren't a musician?"

    A: "a drummer."

Or am I merely understating and misunderstanding the dynamic role a drummer has in a band?

TK: Nah, Charlie's never blown me away. I kinda thought that's because he might be overshadowed by Mick'n'Keef, but I guess that argument doesn't fly when you look at some of the others on my list.

Jaggy: Imagine "Smells Like Teen Spirit" with the wee tube from Hanson on drums....

Might I offer a Nicko McBrain to the mix, or am I being stupid?

(Saw Terry Bozzio in a drum clinic at the SECC once, if the opportunity arises for you to do the same, do something else!)

Billy: Well, Maiden aren't really my thing, but from what I've heard he's pretty good. There were a few metal drummers I considered, including that twat Lars Ulrich (suing your own fans, what a bellend). And I hadn't even heard of Bozzio, but his track record seems pretty impressive.

I always thought Ringo's drumming was a bit..... plodding.
You remember the journalists's question (to John Lennon I think) with awe in his voice, "Is Ringo the =best drummer in the world?"
The reply, "Ringo isn't even the best drummer in the Beatles!"
